In this tutorial we will be changing the layout of the frontpage in Joomla. Using this method you can control just about anything on your frontpage.
Begin by navigating to Menus >> Main Menu
Select the Home menu item
There are several parameters you can change. If you mouse over each parameter you will see a description of what the parameter controls.
We'll change to 2 leading articles. This will show 2 articles at full width before the 2 column layout takes over
We'll turn off the newsfeed link
We'll set the title of each article to be linked. This behaves the same as the Read More link and links directly to the article's page.
We'll hide the Created Date and Time
And we'll hide the hits
And we don't want the home page to show as SSL, so we will disable it.
Then save the changes
Our changes have been saved, let's see what it looks like.
